Dear Family,   Shirley & I wish to thank Marlene & Kerry for the wonderful hospitality that they so generously shared with us and the rest of their family as we gathered at their home in Tremonton, Utah last week.  By my count we had 22  family members in their house.  Wow! And everyone had a place to sleep. Now that's a houseful. (They do have a big house and we all made use of every square foot of it) We made the trip home without an overnight stop.  We arrived home at 8:30 P.M. after about 12 hours on the road.  I think it will take another good night's sleep to get back to normal.  We will have a busy couple of days preparing for our annual Thanksgiving gathering at Shirley's home in Hemet, Ca.  We are not sure how many to expect but we are prepared with a 23 lb. turkey.  Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and we will look forward to the next "gathering".  Love,  Poppa Charlie & Grandma Shirley Byrne

Trip to Utah!

Shirley and I made the journey to Northern Utah to visit with Kerry, Marlene and all of the grandkids and great-grandkids.  It has been so much fun seeing all of them.  The little ones have grown so much!  We probably won't even know them the next time we see them as they grow so fast.  We will be leaving for home tomorrow, Monday morning.  It is a long trip, about 11 hours if we drive straight through.  We will be having Thanksgiving on Friday with some of Shirley's family at our home.  We just found out that Shirley's son Tom and his wife Cheryl bought a new home at Heritage Ranch across the street from my place.  Tom is doing well healing from his triple bypass.  They both really enjoy the pool facilities there.  Hope we can keep in touch through this blog.  Hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving.

Learning to Blog

Hi to all members of the Byrne clan.  This is: Dad, Poppa, Grandpa or Uncle Charlie etc.  I have never participated in an internet blog before.  I will promise to try and participate in the future. You will have to excuse me if I am not up to speed on all things "computer".  I am from a generation that grew up playing "kick the can" in the middle of the street rather than sitting in front of a computer playing video games.  Other games we played included "hide and go seek", and "spin the bottle".  The latter was the most fun.  We would take a milk bottle (anyone remember what a milk bottle" is.  Anyhow, girls and boys would sit in a circle and spin the bottle. When the bottle stopped it pointed towards someone who then could pick anyone from the group and kiss them (boys kissing girls and vice versa).  Regards to all,  CLB

Just a few Morris family summer pictures

Here are some pictures showing a few things that our family did this summer.

We spent a weekend in beautiful Lake Tahoe. We took a tram to the top of the ski resort, and enjoyed the beautiful view! We also got to visit Uncle Dale and Aunt Margaret while we were there. It was also fun to see our cousin Jenny. It was great to visit with everyone in such a great atmoshere!

This summer McKayla raised a lamb to show in our county fair. It was a good experience for her and she had a lot of help from her entire family. Her lamb weighed 114 lbs, and at times was very difficult for a 50 lb girl to handle, but she did great and got 1st place in her class as well as placing 25th out of 350 lambs. Not to bad for a first timer! Poppa and Shirley were nice enough to make the long trip to Utah and watch her show "Mater". It is always fun to have them visit our home!

Here is a picture of the kids at one of their favorite places, Bear Lake! They enjoyed Labor Day sun bathing and playing in the sand.

These are just a few of the fun things we did this summer. I will post some more pictures from our famiily vacation to Yellowstone when we get home.

Love,

The Morris Family
